Great News
- BT have now abolished the distance and noise
limits for the provision of a 512kbps broadband
service |
 |
This means that
if your exchange is already enabled you should
be able to receive a 512kbps service subject to
the physical quality of your telephone line. |
|
|
| The recent trials in both Milton
Keynes and Fort William carried out by BT indicate
that the main limiting factor for the provision of a
512kbps service was problems with the internal wiring
of the customers' premises |
| |
| The process |
|
 |
If your exchange
is enabled a 512kbps service will be activated
and if there are then problems, a BT engineer
will visit your premises to carry out detailed
tests and if necessary install a new BT socket
faceplate, free of charge. It is estimated that
this may be necessary in approximately 20% of
cases |
 |
Unfortunately
BT estimate that ultimately in 0.2% of cases it
will be unable to deliver a 512kbps service, even
after a BT engineer has carried out detailed on
site work. In these cases the service would be
cancelled at no cost to the customer. |
